1in8b is a free, single-player life simulator. Be born at random, with birthplace and starting circumstances drawn from real-world statistics. Follow a fictional person from childhood through school, work, relationships and old age. Make decisions, choose what to focus on, and discover how a life is shaped by opportunity, chance and choice.

Controls

Click or tap Be born, then choose responses when decisions appear. Use Pause, the speed buttons, Auto and the focus controls. Scroll to read the record. Keyboard: Tab / Shift+Tab to move between controls, Enter / Space to activate. Sound is optional.

Saves

Your current unfinished life autosaves after each year and decision when browser storage is available. Reload and select Continue. A new life replaces the unfinished one. Languages share the save. No cloud sync or cross-device saves. Private mode, blocked/cleared browser storage or a changed hosting origin can remove progress.

The last ten life summaries are kept. A completed life's full record stays on its ending screen until you leave; save its card first. This edition does not connect to 1in8b.app accounts or Keepsake purchases.

English, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Indonesian, Malay, Thai, Hindi and Russian. Gameplay and interface text are translated. Help / Saves and licence notes are in English. No spoken dialogue.

HTML5 browser game with mouse and keyboard controls. Tested in desktop Chrome (a complete life) and Microsoft Edge (start and controls). Phone and tablet layouts were tested in desktop Chrome. Safari, Firefox and physical iPhone, iPad and Android devices have not been verified for this release. No native app or controller support is claimed.

Content and credits

Made for ages 15 and up. Fictional lives include illness, poverty, bereavement and death. The simulation combines aggregate statistics with game assumptions; it is not a prediction about real people or professional advice.
